Gas Piping

Gas Line Installation & Repair

Gas piping is one of the most safety-critical systems in any Ontario home — and one that must only be installed, modified, or repaired by a licensed gas technician. Modern Home Energy provides full-service residential gas line installation, extension, repair, and pressure testing for homeowners across Oshawa and Durham Region. From running a new gas line for a kitchen stove to installing an outdoor BBQ connection or extending service to a new appliance, we handle every project with precision and full TSSA compliance.

Licensed Gas Piping Services

All gas piping work in Ontario requires a licensed gas technician and, in most cases, a permit and inspection. Modern Home Energy holds the required TSSA Gas Technician licence for all residential gas work and completes all projects in compliance with the Ontario Gas Distribution Code and Ontario Building Code.

What Gas Line Services Do We Provide?

New Gas Line Installation

We install new gas supply lines for all residential appliances and features, including gas stoves, ranges, and cooktops, gas fireplaces and inserts, gas clothes dryers, natural gas generators, gas-fired pool and spa heaters, and new furnaces or boilers requiring a dedicated gas supply.

Gas Line Extensions & Rerouting

Existing homes often need gas line extensions when adding new appliances, finishing a basement, building an addition, or renovating a kitchen. We extend existing supply lines with properly sized pipe and all required fittings, joints, and shutoffs to meet current code requirements.

Gas Leak Detection & Repair

Gas leaks are a serious safety emergency. If you smell natural gas (a sulphur or rotten egg odour), leave your home immediately, do not operate any electrical switches, and call 911 and Enbridge Gas emergency before calling us. After the emergency is resolved and the gas is shut off, Modern Home Energy can locate the leak source, repair or replace the affected pipe section, and perform a full pressure test before service is restored.

Gas Line Pressure Testing & Certification

All new and modified gas lines must be pressure tested before being commissioned for use. We perform pressure tests using calibrated equipment and provide a signed test certificate confirming the system is leak-free and ready for TSSA inspection.

Common Reasons Oshawa Homeowners Need Gas Line Work

  • Adding a gas stove or range in a kitchen that currently has electric appliances
  • Installing an outdoor natural gas BBQ or gas fire pit for year-round entertaining
  • Running a gas line for a new gas fireplace or fireplace insert
  • Connecting a new natural gas furnace or boiler to an upgraded gas supply
  • Adding a gas line for a tankless water heater in a utility room or basement
  • Extending gas service to a new home addition or finished basement

Gas Line Safety — Why Licensed Work Matters

Gas line work performed by unlicensed individuals is illegal in Ontario and creates extremely serious safety risks. A poorly installed gas line can result in slow leaks that accumulate gas to dangerous concentrations before being detected, or sudden failures that pose immediate fire and explosion hazards. Beyond the safety risk, unlicensed gas work voids home insurance coverage and can result in significant fines. Every gas line project completed by Modern Home Energy is documented, inspected, and certified.
